Siddhartha
editorial, book design
“Siddhartha,” authored by Hermann Hesse in 1922, served as the inspiration for this project. The brief called for the creation of a limited edition of prints for the book, encompassing a dust jacket, soft cover, and fully annotated book, intended to retail for $25 or more. I chose to accentuate the theme of inner peace and the journey of self-discovery undertaken by the protagonist in my design approach. Consequently, the die-cut characters symbolize the connection between the outer world and inner self, while the fragmented words convey the complexity of emotions experienced during the quest for answers from within.

The die-cut letterforms and the journey of finding inner peace and destiny serve as the central themes of the design. The use of the ‘_’ symbol and repetition reinforces the concept of self-reverification.
