Good / Bad History

editorial, lettering

“Good Design Bad Design” is an article written by design masters, Tibor Kalman, J. Abbott Miller, and Karrie Jacobs. The challenge of this project was to condense 5,000 words and numerous footnotes into just four tabloid-sized pages. The primary design opportunity emerged in the inner spread, where I broke the centerline to create a bold, oversized typographic composition as the focal point of the article.

For this editorial project, I use serif lettering to convey a sense of continuity, bridging the historical context discussed in the article with contemporary design.
